    advice needed

I recently aquired a 5 mos old puppy. Who has ALOT of energy.  I have no problem with this but my hubby is getting frustrated.

Does anybody have suggestions for non stop barking at pple entering the house. As well as constant biting of our hands and accindents in the house.  I take her out all the time and it seems as soon as we come back in she goes potty on the floor.  She was an indoor dog before we got her, and maybe this is part of the problem?

The biting is probably from teeting, but then its almost like she snaps at me if i dont let her bite?

    Any advice would be appriciated!

    Thank-u

In the first place you did not say what type of puppy this is.

Is she a terrier? if so this is typical behaviour however, when she bites give her a toy, do not allow her to bite you or anyone else.

The barking can be controlled by putting her in a crate when you have visitors, or getting an electronic device that emits a

high pitched noise that will divert her away from the barking. this dervice costs around $25.00 and can be purchased at your

    Petsmart or on line.

As to the going potty when she comes back into the house, put her immediately into her crate, and allow her out only to go out

again to relieve herself.  Being 5 months old she has acquired some very bad habits, however being firm and not allowing her

to be loose in the house until she learns to "go" outside will soon make her realise that freedom comes with co-operation

    Hello,

Thank-you so much for the response!

YES! she is a Schoodle.  Scottish Terrier poodle.

THis morning we had a eureka moment ... she went #2 outside and shortly after that peed; this is good because like i said she usually waited till we got back form our walk.  She does go on newspaper... as I believe thats how she was trainned... but will ofter find somewhere else to go #2.. i am trying very hard to break her of that habit!

The collar sounds fantastic. i am going too look into it right away.  It has become impossible to have company over and sit comfortable.

    Thank-u!

barking can be controlled with training. this is typical behavior for a terrier, especially a young dog. as soon as she starts barking you need to take her attention away from the thing she is barking at and correct her, either with a quick, loud "shh" noise or by saying loudly and sternly "no noise!", but stay in a calm state of mind. She should listen, but if she doesn't nudge her slightly by her shoulder with your fingers to get her attention. you may need to nudge her harder or not at all, but make sure you do not hit her or push her over; it's just a simple touch. do this as soon as she barks, and make sure that you keep it up until she stop's barking and can make the connection that what she is doing is wrong. make sure, also, not to say her name or let the other person give eye contact, touch the dog or speak to the dog while doing this. i don't recommend bark collars while doing this because they will learn to associate the collar with authority rather than you.

as for the chewing, you must get her a soft toy to chew while she is teething or else she may become destructive. puppies need to chew while they are teething as it can be painful and stressful to the dog if they don't. once she finishes teething she should not be snappy.

    Re: advice needed

    Thank-you everybody.

I have noticed a differance in her already, she is becoming calmer everyday, Dec 23 she will be 6 mos old! My hubby is warming up to her ... and i am so in love with all her cute ways!  even tho some of them are deviece - haha.  She is too cute.

Poor thing tho, I just tried to give her a hair cut by myself as i noticed mats and her hair was way too long.  Now she looks like a little mutt because i cant get her to sit nice to finish... any advice on that haha.   Her hair is all kinds of lengths now!

thank u to thairifficthais and Laurie for your responses, great advice from both! ;-)
