If you had to choose one video game for any console (Atari 2600/Odessey through PS3/X Box 360) what is the best game of all time? Take into consideration these factors:
- The point in time the game was released, based on what type of games were already out on the market
- The overall gameplay for both single and multiple users
- The simplicity/complexity of the game controls
- The overall fun factor
I have to cast my vote for Tecmo Super Bowl (for the old school Nintendo). When people come over the house, they are amazed that I still have my Nintendo working properly (my mom bought it for me when I was in thrid grade and at that point it did not even come with Super Mario Bros.!!) and hooked up to my 67 inch flat screen, with Techmo Super Bowl in there and ready to go! This classic game came out in 1991 and was much beter than its they previous version Tecmo Bowl. Growing up and playing the seasons with Tecmo Super Bowl was amazing...the in-depth stats were revolutionary and set the tone for all future sports games. The controls are so easy to use, yet you still have to have great field awareness and when playing a two player game, the psychology behind picking each others plays makes you want to play more and more! At 31 yrs old, I still have friends over to play Tecmo tourneys. We usually write down the best 12 or so teams (with the exception of S.F....they are just too good) and then drop the teams into a hat. We go around and drwa our tema and then set up a playoff system. However, once a team has been played with, they are all done, so you have to choose wisely. What else can I say?...what a game! Where esle can you break tackle after tackle, throw the ball 90+ yards, have a punt truely change field position, get too damn nervous when kicking a field goals from any distance, and be able to re-live the players names that we grew up loving?
