My 3yr old chi, constantly is protecting me. He barks and will eventually bite ankles. He will not do this to family members

and people who he knows. But to people that dont always come to the house or other dogs forget it. Especially big dogs,

does anyone know what will help me so he can overcome this attitude? Thanks

Hi Diana, I wish I had an answer for you.  Its quite interesting to see how different breeds (and different dogs withing that breed for that matter) have that inborn protection instinct.  It seems that most dogs have it, but the degree that they have it varies a bunch.  I will be checking back to this post to see if people have a suggestion for you.
